You see, at the end of the day, your online shop is still basically a website, which is why you need to implement SEO strategies to help you gain more customers.

SEO, when done correctly, can help drive more traffic to your website. And even though they do not necessarily become your customers; you can expect that there are some that are willing to spend their money if they really like what you have to offer.

Poorly Optimized Website

Websites that are slow to load and are cluttered with a lot of different things can easily shoo your customers away. Make sure that everything on your website is well-optimized so that they not only load fast, but they also make your webpage as clean as possible.

The Owner’s Lack of Patience

Because it is so easy to put up an online business nowadays, many owners believe that they can get rich quick. Well, that is not really the case.

There are some online shops that provide free shipping. And, according to statistics, around 70% of online shoppers will only pay $5 or less for shipping. So, if you do not provide free shipping, at least give your customers a huge discount for its costs.

Poor Website Security

Let me ask you a question: do you feel safe spending money if you are to transact in a pretty old and busty building with some addicts on the side? I am willing to bet that you’re going to run away as soon as possible.

Well, that is also the same as online shopping. Your shoppers want to feel safe and secure so that they will have confidence in spending their hard-earned money in your online store.

That being said, you need to ensure that your website’s security is robust and in check. SSL certificates, two-factor authentication, and other security measures should be employed.

Bad Website Design

According to Peep Laja, founder of ConversionXL, 38% of people actually leave a website if they find the layout to be unattractive. Remember that every error they commit is not necessarily their fault as it could be the website’s fault.

Not a Mobile-Friendly Website

Google, the company, has stated that 70% of the online population uses mobile devices as opposed to their large and bulky computers.

Having said that, if your website doesn’t use responsive design- making it not mobile-friendly, then you’re going to lose a lot of customers.

Not Having Enough Videos and Pictures

Since your customers have no way of telling what the product is and its features, you should put it upon yourself to provide them with product pictures and videos. Doing this will help increase your conversion rate.
